Hello friends and others!
I’m writing to you from the airport, terminal 4 of JFK to be specific. I got here sooo quickly from my parents’ house in Brooklyn— the driver turned a half hour into 15 minutes by going 80 the whole way, magic! Thank you to my dad and Barbara for sponsoring my ride and taking care of my cats! Thank you to all 4 of my parents for hosting me and taking good care of me while I waffled around and channeled my angsty 16 year old self for the past two months. Truly could not do it without you.
Thanks for signing up for my newsletter! I hesitate about having any sort of a travel blog because life starts to turn into life ,no matter where you are, after about a week. At the same time, I’d like to keep in touch and won’t have my phone on me as much. I’m also infinitely more interested in record keeping than I was a decade ago. I anticipate this newsletter may be less interesting than you are anticipating but maybe you’ll find some interesting tidbits.
I’m flying to Quito, Ecuador today, where I lived from Feb 2009- December 2011. Almost three full years! Feels like a lifetime ago, both in time and in version of self. I’ll be in Quito for a week and then I’m heading up to the village of Malchinguí to live at my beloved Rhiannon ( or “the farm”, colloquially). I was at Rhiannon for the last 6/7 months that I lived in Ecuador and am so happy to be returning.
