Hello again! Today is Saturday, which is a working day at the farm, and as predicted, my life is starting to settle into new little rhythms and routines.
This past week, I spent time with various friends in Otavalo, a small town about an hour northwest of here with a large indigenous presence and culture, specifically in the production and sale of textiles— mostly my time was spent just hanging out and drinking coffee, haggling over alpaca sweaters, hiking around a crater lake and eating treats from the market. Life is still very rich and full 😊 I thought a lot about my family and how much I miss them while I was there— back in 2011, a whole gaggle of harmon/jordans descended on me here in Ecuador and Otavalo was a highlight for sure.
The farm continues to be lovely. Since I arrived, we’ve been quite a big group, averaging around 22 adults and a rotating cast of kids. People have been moving on, seemingly all at once, which is always hard for me! I hate saying bye! It’s kind of like adult summer camp, with all of us living and working and cooking and playing together round the clock, and it’s been bittersweet to let new friends move on. I know/hope that it gets easier but it always makes me just a little sad. At the same time, infinitely richer for the connections I’ve made with people from all over the world and wouldn’t trade that for anything.
At the same time, I am looking forward for a bit more down time as the group thins out— I’ve been neglecting all self care activities except socializing and the ocasional shower. Looking very forward to more yoga, reading, musicing etc.
Thanks again for all who reach out or send me thought waves or like my posts or whatever! Hugs for you all, out there, from me!
